I think that the Meredith Brooks' song, "Bitch," summarizes me rather nicely. Or, if you prefer, X. dell says I'm a life-smart literary scholar with a low BS tolerance...that also works!

Per Your Request

Well, I've had several requests to post a picture of the ring. So, here we go!

It's a marquis cut diamond, and yes those are sapphires on either side. Garnets are my birthstone (my bday is the 31st), but I prefer sapphires. Alex also made sure to obtain a platinum band because I don't like to wear gold. I've never had a piece of jewelry made up so perfectly to my tastes!

Oh, and if you want to see Alex's perspective, he just blogged about it...click on the link entitled, "The Perfect Man" to the left of my blog!

I went over and told him how wonderful you are, and welcomed him to b**gland. What else can I do?

HA! I came here to ask you about a photo of the ring. That's GORGEOUS. Be SURE to show it to Paul in Vegas and tell him how much I LOVE it!! (Honestly...I'll pay you! Really I will!)

And, to PROVE we were separated at birth, my birthday is the 30th of this month - birthstone also garnet.

This is getting positively spooky!

That is absolutely stunning. I LOOOOVE marquis cut, that's what mine is, save any other stones.

Alex did good, as always!!

Greg--Thanks! We already had the fantastic luck of meeting each other despite living in different countries, so I think luck is on our side :)

Shyrocket--glad you like the ring, and thanks :)

SC--of course you are thrilled...you have already DISCOVERED the joy of a redhead/younger male match, so you just want us to feel the love too! haha!

Laura--hehe yes! He has great listening skills and remembers everything. He knew what I'd love based on asking me questions probably a year ago about things I prefer in rings/jewelry. He tries to keep track of everything that I tell him for some odd reason. It's nice to be listened to. Never had that before.

Tony--you know, I feel that was supposed to be a joke, but I don't know what Elizabeth Duke is!

AS--thanks! I love wearing it because it's so pretty :)

Hoss--good enough! You gave him an idea of what to write on next, so now he has NO excuse.

Mandy--wow! Just one day off. I guess mom just held her legs together for one day (we'll ignore the ten years), eh? And done! We'll make sure to discuss exactly what I should come up to Paul and say when we are out there...haha!

April--I've only had a couple of rings in my life, and this is my first marquis. I have to say it's lovely cut that way!

FW--Alex is strangely practical (I say "strangely" as I am STILL not used to a man who has a firm grip on reality), and he had the ring already insured from the day he bought it "just in case." So, it's taken care of. Considering what recently happened to the cds, I'm glad. Nobody ever knows for sure what will happen.

Thanks, NWJR! I'm not sure I want to live that long, so let's just say...dance on our 60th, ok? haha!

Oh, wow, that's awesome! Congratulations - I know the two of you will be happy together (seeing as how happy you already are and all). Just don't get too close to any bears in the meanwhile, they can smell rings from miles away. :P

"Strangely practical" is really quite sexy and romantic. It's much easier to let someone sweep one off one's feet to a desert isle when you know (1) they have made reservations, (2) they have return ticket, and (3) they have all other logistics well in hand. A good thing.
